Georgia Man Terrorized Over Gay Sticker On His Car

(Albany, Georgia) Police are searching for a suspect after an Albany, Georgia man was terrorized because of a "Gay and Proud" sticker on the rear window of his car.

Albany police say the suspect approached Andy Coston asking for a cigarette. As Coston opened his car door, the suspect pulled a gun on him and said gays were not allowed in his neighborhood.

Coston said he did not understand what the man was talking about. The suspect then pointed to the sticker on his rear window.

Police say the suspect then began waving the gun at Coston while yelling anti-gay epithets.

Terrified, Coston said he jumped in the car and sped off fearing the suspect would follow him and kill him.

"I wasn't sure if he was going to shoot me, but I wasn't going to take a chance," Coston said.

Coston says he is not gay, and does not know how the sicker wound up on his window.

Allen Thornell, the executive director of Georgia Equality said the incident is an example of the threats to which gays are subjected routinely.

Albany is a small college town south of Atlanta and is home to a marine base.
