(Boston, Massachusetts) Wellesley College officials are investigating the campus LGBT group Spectrum after 11 people were treated for intoxication after the group's annual party.
The college infirmary was overwhelmed and some of the sick students were transferred to area hospitals.
About 2,000 students and their guests attended the party at the Wellesley's sports. The event is one of two college-sanctioned parties held at the center each year.
Last year's Spectrum party also resulted in a number of people being treated for alcohol poisoning - the result of over consumption.
Wellesley spokesperson Mary Ann Hill said none of the students was seriously injured but the incident, especially in light of last year's situation, is cause for concern.
Hill said the college and student organizations have tried to discourage excessive drinking.
''It would seem that despite the efforts of many, many people to keep everyone safe, there obviously were some people who were still out of control," Hill told the Boston Globe.
She said that those who received medical care would be required to undergo alcohol counseling and could face disciplinary action.
The organizers of the party could also be disciplined.
